Legendary hardwood star Michael Jordan made $90 million in endorsements as recently as 2013, according to Forbes. The earnings are largely a product of Jordan's partnership with the Nike brand, which features his Jordan brand shoes and line of apparel.

Though he last played for Washington Wizards for the 2002-2003 season, Jordan's 2013 earnings surpassed his previous high of $80 million earned during the 1997-1998 season, his last with the Chicago Bulls.

Other long-time endorsement partners include Five Star Fragrances, Gatorade, Hanes and Upper Deck; the basketball icon has since added deals with 2K Sports and Novant Health.

Jordan also holds 80 percent ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA franchise.
