The York Chocolate is a breed of show cat introduced in New York state in 1993 by Janet Chiefari. The breed began as the product of a long-haired black male and a long-haired black and white female.
York Chocolate cats range from medium to large in size. They have round heads, long necks and moderately long muzzles. Their almond-shaped eyes may be gold or green, and their bodies are big-boned and muscular. Their coats are very fine and fluffy at the tail. They are solid chocolate, solid lavender, white and chocolate or white and lavender in color. The breed is known for its friendly, even-tempered personality.
