Do Yorkies bark a lot?

Some Yorkies bark a lot, but owners can train them not to bark. The animal may bark out of aggression toward humans or other animals, or as a result of separation anxiety.

The Yorkie is a toy breed and weighs less than seven pounds as an adult. The dog's small size often does not deter it from acting like a larger dog. Yorkies are generally not afraid of larger animals or humans. A person with small children in the home should consider a different breed; the Yorkie does not generally tolerate hair pulling or rough play by children. The breed can make a good companion dog for older children and adults, and is ideal for apartment living.
