Is Zellers still owned by a Canadian company?
By Forinfos - 17/01/2026 - 0 comments
Although there are only two Zellers locations remaining in Canada as of 2015, the company and brand are still owned by Hudson's Bay Company of Canada. The remaining Zellers locations serve as liquidation outlets for the Hudson's Bay and Home Outfitters brands.
In 2011, Target Corporation of the United States purchased the lease agreements of the majority of remaining Zellers locations and converted them to Target Canada locations. By the end of 2013, nearly all of the locations were closed and liquidated. Target's expansion into Canada was short-lived, and the last of its remaining Canadian stores closed in April 2015.
