The 1:100 ratio of fuel mix is a ratio of one part TCW-3 outboard engine oil to every 100 parts of fuel. This ensures that the crankcase bearings, piston rings and all other moving parts of the engine are properly lubricated for maximum longevity and performance.

Since two-stroke engines lack a proper lubrication system, the oil present in the incoming air/fuel mixture lubricates all of the moving parts. If the incoming mixture has too little oil, the parts wear much faster, and engine damage is likely to occur. If the mixture has too much oil, the spark plugs can be blackened from the excess oil, and the engine runs very roughly while producing a lot of smoke.
