64-bit is a type of computer architecture where the hardware and software of the computer utilize data in 64-bit pieces. In 2014, the most common types of system architecture are 32- and 64-bit, with newer systems often running 64-bit because information can be processed more quickly.
64-bit processors have faster loading times and larger memory than 32-bit processors. 64-bit is especially useful in video and photo editing where a large amount of computing power is required to complete a task. 64-bit processors have enlarged address spaces with roughly one billion gigabytes of RAM available. 64-bit architecture is usually compatible with 32-bit operating systems.
