To find out if a Windows computer is 32- or 64-bit, check the Properties menu. A 64-bit computer processor handles large amounts of information more efficiently than one with 32 bits.
- Open the System menu
Click the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen. Locate the Computer option on the right side of the menu.
- Open computer properties
Right click the Computer option. Select the Properties option to open a separate window with information on the computer operating system.
- View the system information
Information on the system is located under the System heading. Look at the System Type entry to find whether the computer is 32- or 64-bit.
