Install 64-bit Java on Windows by downloading and running the Windows Offline (64-bit) installer from Java.com. The 64-bit version of Java is required to run Java applets on 64-bit browsers or to run Java executables on 64-bit Windows computers.
- Go to the Java.com download page
Open a Web browser, and go to Java.com. Click the Download link beside Help at the head of the page. This opens the Java download page.
- Download the Windows Offline (64-bit) installer
At the bottom of the download page is a link labeled "See all Java downloads." Click it to reveal a list of manual download options for Java. Click on the link labeled "Windows Offline (64-bit)" to begin the download.
- Close all other applications
Once the download is complete, close any windows you might have open to avoid any conflicts that might arise during the installation process.
- Run the Windows Offline (64-bit) installer
Run the downloaded file to begin installing the 64-bit version of Java for Windows. The installer guides you through a series of steps. Follow the instructions to complete the setup process.
- Test that Java was successfully installed
