The Havanese breed of dog usually grows to be 8 to 11 inches tall at the shoulders and weigh 7 to 13 pounds when full grown. The life span of a Havanese dog is typically between 12 and 15 years.

This breed does well in all types of housing due to its small size. Abnormal growth of a Havanese dog can cause hip and elbow dysplasia. Havanese dogs are classified as companion dogs that tend to be extremely attached to their owners. It is common for these dogs to have separation anxiety when separated from their owner for periods of time.
