Acid reflux disease does not cause dry mouth, according to WebMD and MedicineNet.com. Dry mouth occurs when the glands in the mouth that produce saliva are not functioning properly. This is due to medication, disease, nerve damage, or radiation and chemotherapy, according to National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
The symptoms of acid reflux include heartburn, nausea and vomiting, burping, stomach bloating, upper abdominal discomfort and regurgitation of food, according to WebMD. Some complications that may occur with acid reflux are ulcers, coughing, asthma and Barrett's esophagus, which are precancerous cells that become malignant for the majority, according to MedicineNet.com.
