The American Legion uniform shirt is a button down shirt with silver closures on the breast pockets and epaulets. The shirt comes in white and navy blue varieties and is available in both men's and women's sizes.

The American Legion uniform shirt is frequently worn with at least one of several approved accessories. The long-sleeved version of the shirt may be worn with a segment of gold braid that attaches to the left epaulet and passes under the arm. Both the short-sleeved and long-sleeved styles may be worn with colored collar tabs, or with patches on the upper arms of either sleeve.
