What does chicken pox look like in the beginning?

According to WebMD, typical first symptoms of chicken pox are fever, headache, sore throat, cough and reduced appetite. Within one or two days, round red spots appear, but these change dramatically over the course of two days.
Soon after a plain red spot shows up, it starts to blister, notes WebMD. Then the blister pops, dries out and forms a crust. This process repeats for five to seven days as new spots develop. The infection runs its course in about 10 days, but the crusted blisters are usually not all healed. Although chicken pox is generally not serious in healthy children, the disease is often a concern in teenagers, adults, pregnant women and people with other health issues.
