Which American president was a philatelist?

Franklin D. Roosevelt was an avid philatelist who joined the American Philatelic Society in 1931. Two years later, he was elected President of the United States.

According to the National Postal Museum, Roosevelt spent time each day with his stamp collection. He and Postmaster General Thomas A. Farley used to brainstorm over stamp designs, colors and themes. Roosevelt even took the time to sketch some of his ideas for stamp designs. As a child, FDR learned a lot about the world from his stamp collection, and as an adult, the hobby provided enjoyment and relaxation as he struggled to end the Great Depression and manage America's involvement in World War II.
