Barack H. Obama is the 44th president of the United States. Born in Hawaii on Aug. 4, 1961, Obama was raised by his grandparents and attended Harvard Law School. Upon graduation, he taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

In Chicago, Obama was active in his community and led a voter-registration drive. He served as a U.S. senator for the state of Illinois before being elected president of the United States in 2008 and again in 2012.

Barack Obama is the first African American president of the United States. He is married to Michelle Obama and has two daughters, Sasha and Malia.
