Antimony sulfide, also referred to as antimony trisulfide, is a chemical compound with the formula Sb2S3. The compound exists naturally as stibnite, or it can be created artificially in the form of an orange-red precipitate.
American Elements states that antimony sulfide is used predominantly as a pigment in vulcanizing and coloring rubber and in the composition of paints, safety matches and percussion primer. In the cosmetics industry, the chemical compound is referred to as kohl, and it is used to create glitter effects. The compound was also used in flash powder prior to the implementation of electronic flashes.
