Baby snow leopards are called cubs. Snow leopards mate between January and mid-March. The female then delivers two to three cubs in approximately three months after mating. At birth, snow leopard cubs weigh a bit more than 1 pound.
At 6 weeks of age, the cubs' eyes open, and they begin to walk and climb. A few weeks later, they eat solid food. According to Defenders of Wildlife, the cubs begin to hunt with their mother between 5 and 6 months of age and spend their first winter at her side. By the time the cubs are 2 years old, they leave their mother, sometimes staying together for a short time before venturing out alone.
