John the Baptist baptized Jesus according to the New Testament. Before Jesus began his ministry, he went to John, who served as God's messenger, to be baptized.
John the Baptist was reluctant to baptize Jesus because he knew Jesus was the Messiah. Jesus stated that he wanted to be baptized to fulfill all requirements for righteousness. John proceeded to baptize him, and afterwards, a dove descended with a message from God declaring that Jesus was his son and that he was pleased with him. The New Testament contains the story of Jesus' baptism in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke.
