Where was Jesus baptized?

It is believed that Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River. In Matthew 3:13, it is stated that "Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John."

John the Baptist hesitated to perform the baptism of Jesus. In response to Jesus asking to be baptized, John stated, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" John consented after Jesus assured him it was necessary. According to the bible, after Jesus was baptized by John, the Spirit of God descended like a dove onto Jesus. Millions of Christians visit the site each year. Baptisms are still performed there.
