What is a bathtub cut-out?

A bathtub cutout is a process that removes part of the side of the tub to make it easier for a user to step in and out of the bathtub without risking a fall. A new step is set securely in place over the cutout area for a finished look.
Bathtub cutouts have several advantages. They greatly cut down on the risk of a fall, and do so in a much less costly way than completely replacing the whole tub. The process can be completed on fiberglass, steel or cast iron bathtubs. The process only takes a few hours and does not disrupt bathroom routines for days as a full replacement might.
