To become an EEG technologist you need to obtain the proper education and certification. In 2014, Payscale.com states the average salary for an EEG technologist ranges from $11.41 to $24.54 an hour.
- Obtain a high school diploma or GED certificate
Complete a general high school education. If you did not complete high school, obtain a GED diploma through an adult education program.
- Research schools
Log on to the Internet. Next type in the name of a search engine in your browser. Type in EEG technology program. Various schools appear on the screen. Look for schools that are accredited. Click on the ones you are interested in.
- Select a school
Choose the school you want to attend.
- Apply and enroll
Fill out the application for the EEG technology program and send it in to the school. Once you are accepted, enroll in the program.
- Complete the program
You can expect to complete the program in 12 to 24 months according to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health and Education Programs. At most schools, completion of the program leads to an associate degree.
- Get CPR certified
Take a CPR class and get certified. One may be offered through the school you attended.
- Take the national certification exam
Register for the national certification exam, take it and pass it.
