What are the benefits of obtaining a veteran registration plate?

There are no tangible benefits associated with using a veteran registration plate on a vehicle. The only benefit to using a veteran registration plate is the public recognition received for an achievement earned in military service.

There are 16 types of veteran registration plates available, all of which have prerequisites that must be met before being issued. For example, the Legion of Valor plate can only be issued if the person applying is a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross or Air Force Cross. The Military Retiree plate is offered to any individual who was previously enlisted in a branch of the U.S. military.
