Growlers, used to transport draft beer and cold-pressed coffee, are commonly found in 64-ounce sizes, although 32-ounce, 128-ounce, 1-liter and 2-liter sizes are typically available. The shapes vary as well; 64-ounce growlers tend to be 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide.

Growlers are so named for the "growling" sound made when opening them, which is the result of escaping carbon dioxide. They are commonly made of glass, although ceramic, metal and plastic containers are also possible. Glass growlers are typically amber in color, though clear ones, which are usually cheaper, are found in some locations. Amber glass is preferable when transporting beer, as it blocks out UV light, which can cause spoilage.
