Cuba is the biggest Caribbean island. It is more than one-third larger than Hispaniola, the second largest Caribbean island, and almost 10 times bigger than Jamaica, the third largest island.

The island of Cuba has an area of 40,852 square miles, compared to the 29,529 square miles of Hispaniola, which is occupied by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The third largest Caribbean island, Jamaica, has an area of only 4,320 square miles. Ranking fourth in size among Caribbean islands is Puerto Rico, while Trinidad is fifth.

The northernmost section of Cuba sits just south of the Tropic of Cancer. Key West, Fla., lies about 90 miles north of Cuba.
