What do blue-tongued lizards eat?

Blue-tongued skinks are omnivorous and eat both plant matter and a variety of small animals and insects in their natural habitat. In captivity, they subsist on a diet of greens, fruits, mealworms and crickets.
Blue-tongued skinks are native to the coastal and less arid parts of Australia and eastern Indonesia, and they often frequent backyard gardens in search of snails, beetles and other garden pests. Care must be taken when feeding a captive blue-tongued skink, because some vegetables, such as avocado, rhubarb and onion, are toxic to them. On a good diet, a healthy blue-tongued skink can live about 20 years.
