What is a blueberry tree?

A blueberry tree is actually a bush on which blueberries grow. These bushes are referred to as trees because some varieties of the high bushes can grow as tall as 10 feet.
There are two main types of blueberry plants: the low bush and high bush types. The low bush usually produces small berries considered to be wild, and the high bush varieties are used for commercial production. The high bush variety is commonly grown in individual gardens. High bush blueberry plants must grow in highly acidic soil for optimum berry production. To achieve the highest fruit production yield, two or more plants should be planted in the garden.
