What is body sculpting?

Body sculpting, or contouring, refers to any set of cosmetic surgery procedures involving skin tightening or fat reduction. Body sculpting procedures include liposuction, mesotherapy, thermage and high-intensity ultrasound designed to target and destroy fat cells.

These procedures have varying degrees of effectiveness, but all intend to produce smoother skin, to reduce fat and to eliminate cellulite. Patients who receive body contouring procedures report varying degrees of effectiveness and satisfaction with the results. Body sculpting processes are surgical procedures, and while they may seem quick and harmless, do carry the same risk of complications to the patient that any surgical procedures do.
