According to its official website, CoolSculpting is a noninvasive method of removing fat from targeted areas of the body. The device uses vacuum suction to pull sections of skin and fatty tissue up between two cooling panels to be chilled in a treatment called cryolipolysis.

After the cooling procedure, the treated fat gradually melts away over the course of two to four months. The procedure is quick and painless, notes the official CoolSculpting website. According to Mayo Clinic, cryolipolysis is one of several noninvasive alternatives to liposuction that are available. None of these options produce the dramatic results of liposuction.
