By Forinfos - 09/04/2025 - 0 comments
The box jellyfish comes to shore from 8 to 12 days after a full moon event. This was determined by a study done by the University of Hawaii at Manoa in a period that extended for 14 years of monthly data.
Landy Blair, a lifeguard, also studied the box jellyfish prior to the university study. The box jellyfish, also known as the Alatina moseri, has an impressive population at Waikiki Beach where the study was initiated.
Jellyfish have two major layers of cells. They comprise the internal gastrodermis and the external epidermis. A gelatinous material lies between the two layers. This gelatinous material is the mesoglea.
