When was the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge built?

The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge was built in 1939 and officially opened on April 29 of that year. The bridge was built in time to be used on April 30, the opening day of the World's Fair in Flushing Meadow Park. It is a suspension bridge that connects the Bronx to Queens by crossing the East River.

The Bronx-Whitesone Bridge was completed just 23 months after its construction started. It is 7,140 feet in length, with a main span length of 2,300 feet. As of 2015, the bridge has six lanes of traffic and is a toll bridge. It is part of Interstate 678 between Whitestone in Queens and Ferry Point in the Bronx.
