By Forinfos - 01/05/2025 - 0 comments
The bullseye snakehead is a slender fish species, roughly 3 feet in length and native to southeast Asia and southern China. Beginning in 2000, the species has been found in several lakes and canals in southern Florida.
Often confused with the bowfin, bullseye snakeheads are distinguishable by the placement of the pelvic fin directly behind the pectoral fin whereas that of the bowfin is positioned in a lower position. The two are similar in size and shape, but bowfin have a much smaller anal fin relative to the dorsal fin. Both fins are of similar size in snakeheads. Bowfin also have a bony plate between the lower jaws that is not present in the snakeheads.
