The role of Byron Sully, love interest of the title character on the hit TV drama "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," was played by actor Joe Lando. Lando's first major role was playing Jake Harrison on the soap opera "One Life to Live."

Joe Lando was born on Dec. 9, 1961, in Prairie View, Illinois. Before his entertainment career took off, he worked as a cook in a Hollywood restaurant. After "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" ended in 1998, Lando went on to take roles on "Melrose Place," "JAG," "Higher Ground," "Summerland" and "The Secret Circle." He also worked as a TV series executive producer.
