What do you call a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mixed breed?

A cross between the Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu dog breeds is typically called a Shih Apso. As with other such crosses, some individual breeders may call the mix by other names.

The Shih Apso is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club and the Designer Dogs Kennel Club. A true hybrid breed Shih Apso is one that results from breeding a purebred Shih Tzu with a purebred Lhasa Apso. Both parents must have well-documented lineage for F1 hybrid recognition. Many dogs sold as Shih Apsos may be second-generation mixes or more, with more or less genetic material from each parent breed.
