Free dyslexia tests are available online from a variety of companies, including Lexercise, Dore and the International Dyslexia Association. Only formalized tests conducted by trained professionals should be trusted, however, according to the Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity.

The signs of dyslexia are complex and vary by age and individual, according to the British Dyslexia Association. Lists of symptoms or tests that are provided online, especially for diagnosing dyslexia in young children, are not meant to be treated as checklists and should not be substituted for formal testing. Some signs of dyslexia can be caused by other conditions, neurological or otherwise, and at-home diagnosis can be inaccurate.
