Can you air dry clay projects?

Ceramic projects can be air-dried when they are made with clay specifically designed to be air-dried. Air-dry clay is made from earth or paper and allows for the addition of extra clay after drying, unlike other clays.
Air-dry clay must be kept in an airtight container and moistened while working to prevent it from drying out before the artist is finished. It is available in a variety of colors, and it can be worked with standard pottery techniques and tools, including loops, needle tools, potter's ribs, steel scrapers and wire clay cutters. After it has dried, air-dry clay can be carved, painted, sanded or stained.
