Kolb Aircraft Company, Quicksilver Aircraft and Belite Aircraft produce ultralight aircraft kits for individuals to buy and build at home. The companies have a variety of models featuring different design styles, materials, engine packages, performance and pricing.

Depending on the model's complexity and design, a ultralite kit construction time can vary between 30 and 200 hours, with the prices ranging from around $8,000 to almost $50,000. Kolb Aircraft has four models to choose from: the Firefly, Firestar, Firestar II SS and the Mark III XTRA. Quicksilver Aircraft offers the GT 400 and 500, MX Sport, MX Sprint and the MX II Sprint. Belite Aircraft produces the Ultra Cub and the Pro Cub Lite.
