Although there are free online Certified Nurses Assistant courses available, the organizations that provide these course typically do not have accreditation. Therefore, these courses do not allow the students to receive credit that counts towards certification.

One possible avenue for individuals to take free CNA courses is at a hospital. A hospital may offer these courses for free, but with the requirement that the individual works for the hospital for specified period of time afterward. Unemployment agencies sometimes provide funding for unemployed persons to complete a CNA training program.

There are other costs associated with receiving certification, such as fees for the certification exam, application and fingerprinting.
