Can dogs eat beef bones?

Dogs can eat beef bones, as well as chicken, turkey or lamb bones. Raw bones are recommended due to their softness, which is beneficial to canine dental health. Soft bones also are safer for a dog to swallow.

Recreational bones are also acceptable and usually provide an extended period of chewing time, serving as a fun distraction for the dog. These are often made from large joint bones, such as those found in beef legs. Once the recreational bone is too worn or begins to splinter, it is important to discard it due to the risk of choking. Cooked fish and poultry bones are also dangerous because of their tendency to snap or fragment.
