Can you eat honeycomb?

Honeycomb is safe to eat. Honeycombs are made by waxy secretions of honey bees when they return to the hive to make food for themselves. For every pound of honey humans gather, bees gather and consume another 8 pounds.

Honeycomb has an interesting texture, and its use is versatile. It travels better than honey, and the wax creates a firmer body. Honeycomb stores at room temperature for long periods of time. Darker-hued honeycombs offer up deeper flavor. Honeycomb is delicious in a warm bowl of oatmeal, tapioca or rice pudding. A slab of honeycomb and a dollop of sour cream in the center tame the spicy, hot taste of chili.
