Many locations provide flu shots, including hospitals, doctors' offices, pharmacies, grocery stores and health departments. The CDC suggests using the HealthMap Vaccine Finder to search for venues in a specific location that offer the flu vaccine.

The HealthMap Vaccine Finder locates nearby places to receive the vaccination, based on the address or zip code entered. The CDC recommends that everyone over 6 months of age receive the vaccination shortly after it becomes available, generally by October. It takes about two weeks from the time of vaccination for antibodies to provide protection. The flu vaccine comes in the form of a shot or a nasal spray, according to the Mayo Clinic.
