Can you freeze kale?

Kale can be frozen and kept for an extended time in the freezer if prepared properly. Even though kale can be grown in the winter, putting it already prepared in the freezer can make fixing dinners faster and simpler.

Kale can actually have a better flavor after being exposed to a frost or frozen. The leaves should be cleaned and prepped to be blanched for two to three minutes, with the younger more tender leaves only blanched for around half that time. The leaves should be allowed to cool and be completely dry before freezing. Water that remains on the leaves could cause the kale to get freezer burn and ruin the taste.
