New Zealand’s Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority, Medsafe, warns that Suboxone should not be injected under any circumstances, as it can lead to death. RxList, an Internet drug index, also states that injecting Suboxone, especially in conjunction with other antidepressants or alcohol, can be lethal.

WebMD warns against injecting Suboxone, as it can lead to severe withdrawal symptoms because of the naloxone present in the medication. The described adverse effect of injecting Suboxone includes dangerous, often fatal, breathing problems. These symptoms are observed mainly in individuals who have a history of using narcotics, such as heroin, morphine or methadone.
