Can a lip piercing leave a scar?
By Forinfos - 23/04/2025 - 0 comments
It is possible for a lip piercing to leave a scar behind once the piercing itself has closed. The size of the scar varies depending on the original gauge of the piercing.
Many times, those who allow their lip piercing to close notice a small spot where the piercing once fit, but this fades over time. Piercings larger than the standard 14-gauge hole also may affect the skin's elasticity.
Those who experience keloids during the healing process are more likely to notice scarring after the piercing has been removed. A keloid is a build-up of scar tissue that appears around the piercing when the skin begins to heal.
