The IRS allows taxpayers to make official payments through the IRS website, as the agency explains. A taxpayer can pay through his bank account or via a credit card or debit card. The IRS also allows taxpayers to apply for online payment agreements, in which they pay monthly.
IRS Direct Pay allows a taxpayer to pay his bill or estimated tax via a withdrawal from his checking or savings account, explains the IRS. The service is free, and the IRS does not keep bank account information in its systems. Taxpayers can also use the service to check previous Direct Pay payments. A third-party processor charges a fee for payments made via credit card or debit card.
