Where can you get a money order?

There are a number of places where consumers can purchase a money order. The local office of the United States Postal Service is one option. Western Union offices also sell money orders, as do some grocery stores.

Other places where consumers can purchase a money order include check-cashing businesses, money-transfer businesses and retail stores such as Kroger or Wal-Mart. Some banks may also sell money orders to current customers. However, keep in mind the person or entity for which the money order is being purchased, as some businesses do not cash money orders unless they were purchased through those businesses.
