Many reputable personal finance websites, such as Credit Karma, offer users free customizable mortgage amortization schedules. Many major banks also feature free online mortgage calculators.

In order to calculate a mortgage payment table for a specific loan, the user needs to provide the loan amount, interest rate and loan term. The table that the calculator produces typically shows an equal monthly payment over the life of the loan, as well as how much of that payment is loan principal and how much is loan interest. Most mortgage calculators do not include estimates for property tax, home owner's insurance, private mortgage insurance or other home owner costs that are not part of the mortgage loan.
