Can people drink wine that has been frozen?

Wine that has been frozen and thawed can be consumed. Freezing is economical and a way to reduce waste; if can be as simple as pouring wine into ice cube trays or plastic bottles and placing it in the freezer.

It should be noted that the freezing and thawing process can create a little sediment, or crystals of sodium tartrate, in the wine. If this is undesirable, the liquid can be poured through a metal screen into the glass. Additionally, unlike pure water that freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, various wines have different, lower freezing points due to their alcohol content. Thus, some wines may not completely freeze at the temperature maintained in a residential freezer.
