Can you play DVDs on the PS3?

The Playstation 3 console system plays DVD, Blu-ray and music CD discs. In order to play certain discs, a system update may be required. The update can be downloaded and installed directly on the PS3 as long as it is connected to the Internet.

After inserting the DVD into the PS3, users can select the disc icon and then press the "x" button on the controller or remote control to begin playback of the movie. Press the touch-sensitive eject button on the front of the device to remove the disc after playback is complete. Users can also fast forward, rewind and pause the disc using the standard controller buttons.
