Remove urine stains from upholstery by absorbing the liquid with a clean, dry towel, blotting with mild detergent and water, applying drops of hydrogen peroxide and rinsing with tap water to remove the chemicals. Begin stain removal as soon as possible after discovering the urine stain.
- Absorb the liquid
Use a clean towel to dry as much of the urine from the upholstery as possible without spreading it. Change towels until no liquid remains to be blotted.
- Blot the stain with a detergent solution
Mix a tablespoon each of dishwashing detergent and vinegar in 2 cups of cold water. Use a clean cloth to blot this solution into the urine stain, and then use a dry towel to absorb the cleaning solution from the upholstery. Repeat blotting the stain and absorbing the solution until it is no longer visible.
- Check for complete removal
If some staining remains, use an eyedropper to apply 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to the stain.
- Rinse the chemicals away
Use a cloth dipped in tap water to blot the stain to remove the chemicals and detergents used in cleaning. Use another clean towel to absorb the moisture from the upholstery, and allow it to dry thoroughly.
