To search for reputable elder companions, contact the Eldercare Locator at 800-677-1116, or visit eldercare.gov, which the U.S. Administration on Aging provides as a public service, as of 2015. Alternatively, send email to eldercarelocator@n4a.org.

Eldercare Locator provides translation services for 150 languages from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Outside of regular business hours, call 211, which is a toll-free information and referral service, or visit 211.org and use the search features to locate local services. The Helpful Links feature at the bottom of the homepage provides links to nonprofit organizations that offer information, resources and referrals for aging-related issues.
