Where can you find shallots in the grocery store?

Shallots are typically found in the same aisle as onions and garlic, in the produce section of a grocery store. They do not require refrigeration.

Shallots are members of the onion family and have a mild flavor. A shallot bulb is smaller than an onion and contains multiple cloves, similar to garlic. Each shallot clove consists of fine, concentric layers. When cooking with shallots, caution must be used in determining whether a recipe is calling for an individual clove or the entire shallot bulb. If shallots are not available, onions can be substituted at a ratio of one small onion to three small shallots.
